My client, a leading biotechnology organisation, is seeking an experienced Senior Scientist II to join their Analytical Team in Bedfordshire. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Analytical and Lab teams, responsible for driving research and development (R&D), quality control (QC), and analytical method development activities.
To be considered for this Senior Analytical Scientist position you will have a strong technical background, problem-solving ability, and experience in method validation, with an emphasis on biotechnology analytical assay development.
Key Responsibilities:
Method Development and Validation: Lead the development and validation of analytical methods, with a primary focus on High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and ideally, experience with affinity measurement systems such as Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) or Biolayer Interferometry (BLI).
Product Support: Support product development through QC testing and preparing necessary documentation, including Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Validation Protocols.
Project Management: Oversee and manage multiple internal and external projects, ensuring alignment with analytical priorities and timelines.
Data Analysis and Presentation: Regularly prepare and present technical reports.
Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary technical teams to drive progress on various analytical projects.
Background/Experience:
You will be degree educated in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Bioengineering – or a related field.
You will have at least 10 years’ experience in analytical roles.
Familiarity with working under ISO9001, ISO13485, or similar quality standards.
Experience with HPLC, SPR, or BLI.
Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

I am working with an early-stage biotechnology company, who are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Principal Scientist to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a close-knit team from the early stages as we work to unlock a new class of therapeutic drugs.
Reporting to the Head of Biology, the successful candidate will be a key member of the Biology team responsible for leading assay development in pre-clinical programs for disease targets in relevant cell and animal models, screening candidate compounds and helping to drive programs forward.
Who are they looking for?
PhD in cell or molecular biology, biochemistry or a related discipline
Expertise in protein quantification assays (western blot and ELISA)
Experience with cell culture practices, including cell line maintenance and cell-based downstream assays including nucleic acid transfection
Experience in a wide range of molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction, luciferase assays
Experience in designing, overseeing or managing CROs for execution of in vivo rodent studies
Experience working with oligonucleotide based drug modalities would be desirable
