Smart4Chemicals are looking to recruit a Mechanical Test Engineer for a leading organisation based in the Wrexham area.
As a Mechanical Test Engineer you will be responsible for developing and implementing new testing techniques whilst also improving existing methods. You will also be responsible for expanding testing capabilities to include physical, analytical and mechanical techniques.
To be considered for the role of Mechanical Test Engineer you must have previous experience working in the advanced materials market, ideally 5+ years. Bachelors educated as an absolute minimum in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related subject. PhD would be highly advantageous.
Role requirements
Bachelors educated as a minimum in materials science, mechanical engineering or a closely related subject. PhD would be advantageous.
Previous industrial experience in the advanced materials sector, specifically composite materials.
Strong understanding of composite materials.
Team leader/management experience also highly beneficial.
Experience OR strong understanding in the use of six sigma, lean and CI tools.
Role responsibilities
Develop and implement new testing techniques covering physical, analytical and mechanical whilst improving existing methods.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives and method development.
Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting test failures.
Actively support test requests and provide detailed reports with comparisons to industry standards.
Help to expand testing capabilities within the lab.

Smart4Chemicals are looking to recruit a Lab Technician for a leading materials manufacturer based in the Wrexham area.
As a Lab Technician you will be working on a shift pattern. Shift pattern 1 being 6am-2pm one week followed by 2pm-10pm the next. Shift pattern 2 being the 2 shifts already mentioned plus a night shift from 10pm-6am. Shift allowance will be on offer and will vary dependant on which shifts you select.
To be considered for the role of Lab Technician you will ideally have previous experience in an industrial setting. Any experience of general machining, CNC, band saws etc will be highly desirable. Additional experience in the mechanical testing of composite materials will be of significant interest.
Role requirements
Previous work experience in a lab environment operating a variety of machinery including CNC, band saws, lathes etc.
Any previous experience in the testing of composite materials highly desirable.
HND/HNC in chemistry, materials science, mechanical engineering or a closely related subject also highly desirable.
Any experience with composite panel fabrication or test machines such as Instron, Zwick or MTS.
Role responsibilities
Work within a team to operate a variety of materials on a daily basis to meet production plans.
Manage your own projects and project documentation to an auditable level.
Ensure high levels or housekeeping are maintained in order to keep lab environment safe and tidy to adhere to a strong safety culture.
